Sybase Celebrates 20 Years of Innovation

NEW PRODUCTS AND SOLUTIONS

Sybase e-Biz Impact 5.4.5
A new release of e-Biz Impact 5.4.5 is expected in early 2005. This release will expand the product abilities to include Java support, Web Services enablement, Secure Socket Layer support, and Monitoring and Development tools enhancements. It will also include updated and improved documentation as well as bug fixes. Sybase EDI Server 4.2
A new release of Sybase EDI Server version 4.2 is expected at the end of Q4 2004. The highlights are: 1) Allow multiple transactions for the same version and direction to be defined in trade agreement table; 2) Simplify writing compliance maps output to memory; 3) Support 5010, 5011 and 5012 series of X12 standards; 4) Support additional NCPDP standards; and 5) EC Gateway as a dll and shared library. ASE on Linux on IBM eServer Systems
Sybase has announced that its enterprise-class, relational database management system, Adaptive Server® Enterprise (ASE) on Linux version will run on IBM’s eServer™ OpenPower™ platform. The companies will market Sybase ASE worldwide. Sybase ASE for Linux on the IBM OpenPower Platform, scheduled to be available in Q1 2005, provides customers with a high-performance, cost-effective data management solution. Sybase on Linux delivers lightning-fast performance, lower cost of ownership, and the many benefits of open technology.

Intelligent Enterprise RealWare Awards
Ochsner Clinic Foundation’s PowerBuilder and PocketBuilder - powered cardiovascular application has been selected as one of Intelligent Enterprise’s RealWare awards finalists in the category of Best Performance Management Application. Demonstrating real results through real solutions, this evidence-based medical application has reduced the amount of service claim denials by up to $400,000 per year, reduced transcription costs by $60,000 and removed a great deal of manual intervention from the process.


Gartner Wins Best Healthcare IT Solution by Gartner

The Sybase Provider Kiosk solution won the award for Best Healthcare IT Solution at the Gartner Healthcare IT Summit held in Baltimore in November. The Sybase Provider Kiosk is a vendor agnostic, integration appliance aimed at improving information workflow and providing ubiquitous access to clincial data anywhere, anytime.

Group Health Cooperative
The business challenge for Seattle-based GHC was to knit together a heterogeneous collection of medical applications developed by different vendors, running on different hardware platforms and served by a variety of transport protocols. Read how their solution, based on Sybase e-Biz Impact 5.3 and Adaptive Server Enterprise, manages message traffic among 50 different applications.

St. Luke’s Hospital
To create a single point of real-time access for all clinical information, Missouri-based St. Luke’s needed to integrate its in-house and third-party systems. Its physicians needed a system that offered quick access and eliminated time-consuming delays such as slow screen refreshes and internal system processing. Their Sybase-powered solution met those goals and enabled the hospital to create a single database for online viewing.

HIMSS Northern California Chapter Meeting
Sybase hosted the October meeting of Northern California chapter of HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) on October 20. The topic for the half-day meeting was “Emerging Technologies in Healthcare.” Sponsors included EMC, Siemens, Xpediate Consulting, Cisco, Misys and World Health. Presentation topics included “HealthTech IT Futurist: Top 10 Technology Trends,” “Evidence-based Imaging at Brigham and Women’s Hospital,” and “Use of Emerging Technologies at John Muir/Mt. Diablo Health System.”

HIMSS 2005 - Booth# 5152
Sybase will be exhibiting at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2005 conference, February 13-17 at the Dallas Convention Center.
